What do you get when you combine a Lycoming T53 gas turbine engine...
Click he.With a Chevy 454SS pick-up truck?
You have seen jet cars at the race track, lots of fire and smoke, using thrust to push them down the track. I have seen a couple guys put them in the back of street cars where they drive around on a regular motor under the hood and once off the street, or in a parking lot, they fire the turbine up and do a flame show. My plan is to use a free turbine T53 from a Huey helicopter and create a drive system using a drop box and Power Glide Automatic Transmission that will spin the rear axle. Due to the size of the T53, the motor will be mounted in the bed of the truck and it will have no other engine. If all goes as planned, I'll drive it on the street!! Yep, a 850-1,000 horsepower wheel driven, street legal, turbine powered T53SS truck!! Don't forget to check the "Other Projects" tab for cars I've been working on to fund the T53SS.
